Why Toddler Life is Like a Frat Party

10. There are half-full, brightly-colored plastic cups on the floor in every room. Three are in the bathtub.
9. There's always that one girl, bawling her eyes out in a corner.
8. It's best not to assume that the person closest to you has any control over their digestive function.
7. You sneak off to the bathroom knowing that as soon as you sit down, someone's going to start banging on the door.
6. Probably 80 percent of the stains on the furniture contain DNA.
5. You've got someone in your face at 3 a.m. looking for a drink.

Adeline
Tony — Tue, 07/28/2009 - 8:43pm
Adeline Emma Thompson was born this week to John and Katie Thompson. John is the great grandson of my grandfather, John Mindling. I believe she is Ward and Barbie Thompson's first grandchild.

Taking the Trailer for a Ride
Tony — Tue, 05/12/2009 - 6:53am
Dad loved messing about with his trailer. He enjoyed that as much as camping, I think. He would find excuses to "take the trailer for a ride". Perhaps it was to check out some new hitch adjustment, or work the grease in after packing the bearings. It might be around the block, or it might be to the ocean or the redwoods for a picnic.

Flashback
Tony — Sun, 05/03/2009 - 8:21am
Rainwater drips from the roof corner where the eaves come together, making a little puddle of clear water and glistening pebbles, washed clean by the constant dripping. A reminder that I should have blown the pine needles from the roof before the rain, but also triggering a memory of a winter long ago.

Under the grape arbor at the Tallitsch's

Grandma and Grandpa's patio at the house on Novato Boulevard was a place of delicious chicken cremated to just the right shade of blackness on grandpas furnace of a BBQ. It was also a place of fine family gatherings. Here we have carried out the kitchen chairs and gathered around two card tables shoved together to celebrate Thomas' 6th birthday. You are looking at Donald, Sebastian, Margie, Leo, Tessie, Tom , Tony, and Elizabeth.

Stirring the photo pile
Tony — Mon, 02/02/2009 - 8:55pm
Every once in a while I get busy with the organizing and archiving of my huge pile of moments in time. As of now, these digital moments amount to over 60,000 images. Truly a big pile, within which wonders can hide. In stirring through the pile from time to time I'll try to run some through the flow here at mindling.com.
Herewith Thomas&Son on the 'ol kayak in 1978 down south of Novato.

Windmill sailing in January??!!
Tony — Wed, 01/14/2009 - 2:28pm
A beautiful mid-Winters day brought four Windmills and at least three times that number of crew, hangers-on and groupies out into sunny Alameda for a delightful time of visiting and just "messing about with boats". The video is about three minutes long.
