Indirect window light is one of my favorite light sources, because
of its soft modeling effect. Here this nice light reveals granddaughter Jessica's awakened
feelings of maternal adoration for her sister Julie.
Julie's mom, Marie, rocks Julie under a fine black & white
photograph she had made to document her pregnancy. This may have been part of the
inspiration for my rediscovery of this fine art.

he arrival of this new grandchild awakened a desire to caress the event with
carefully made black and white photographs. Developing and printing equipment which had
been stored for ten years was rustled out and dusted off, then set up on a workbench in
the garage. It was great pleasure to pour the chemicals, dim the lights, and call up the
old mysteries of photographic magic. Working at night I took the time to be satisfied with
each print, before hanging it up to dry.
