We had hiked up these switchbacks the afternoon before at the end of the 4 mile hike south on the Pacific Crest Trail from Ebbetts Pass. We started at an elevation of about 8,700 feet, and got down to about 8,200 feet before the 700 foot climb up these switchbacks to Noble Lake.
